We live in a World of Polarities —
Communication Science Builds Bridges.
We need to be scientists, but also pragmatists. We need to be humanists, but also “digitalists.” We need to be individual humans, but also see the big questions for humankind.
five things about me in a nutshell:
No. 1
I’M A SCIENTIST.
My passion lies in generating new knowledge. But knowledge generation comes with responsibility. That’s why methodological excellence is my golden standard. At the heart of it all is communication — between people, across disciplines, and with the public. Interpersonal communication enhances scientific accuracy, and science communication empowers us to share what truly matters.
No. 2
I’M A BRIDGE BUILDER.
“Truth” doesn’t belong to any single scientific discipline — it emerges in the space between them. That’s why I passionately build bridges across fields, creating research and frameworks that connect diverse ways of knowing. Only through interdisciplinary collaboration can we begin to illuminate the fuller picture of any possible truth.
No. 3
I’M A MOBILIZER.
Together, we can achieve more. I have called into life three large institutions that put scientific knowledge into practice: the ISCOME Global Center for the Advancement of Communication Science in Healthcare, the Center for the Advancement of Healthcare Quality and Safety (CAHQS), and the European Institute for Safe Communication.
No. 4
I’M HUMANITY’S LOST VOICE.
As life becomes increasingly digital, one of the greatest challenges for communication science is to reconcile our need for interpersonal connection with the realities of the digital age. Shared understanding is harder to achieve through screens. The golden key lies in designing digital tools that enhance — not replace — the nature of human interaction.
No. 5
I’M AN ANTHROPOLOGIST OF THE FUTURE.
As we confront humanity’s greatest questions, we must braid Indigenous wisdom with modern science. Our individual lives must align with a collective responsibility — to nurture what sustains life, meaning, and harmony. Safe communication is essential to our shared peace, health, and continued survival.
